The Emergency Medicine and Support Center of Libya participated in the Regional Workshop on Strengthening National Capacities for the Establishment of National Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, held in Cairo, Egypt, from June 9 to 11, 2026, and organized by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The Center was represented by the Director of the Tripoli Office, participating on behalf of the State of Libya alongside the Director of the Emergency Department at the Ministry of Health. This participation reflects Libya’s commitment to enhancing national preparedness and advancing emergency medical response capabilities in line with internationally recognized standards.

The workshop aims to support participating countries in establishing and developing National Emergency Medical Teams, strengthening technical and operational capacities, and facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices among countries across the region. It also seeks to improve coordination between emergency medical teams, healthcare systems, and disaster response mechanisms to ensure more effective and timely emergency interventions.
