Emergency Medicine and Support Center Marks World Mental Health Day

Promoting Compassion, Hope, and Mental Well-Being in Libya

On a day that embodies humanity and hope, the Emergency Medicine and Support Center participated in the National Celebration of World Mental Health Day, which included the launch of Libya’s National Mental Health Strategy, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).

The event was attended by the Acting General Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, the WHO Representative in Libya, and the Center’s delegation led by Dr. Tariq Al-Hemshari, The General Manager of the Center, along with department directors, section heads, and specialists in the field of mental health reaffirming the importance of mental health within the emergency and response system.

During the event, the Center’s Mental Health Department delivered a presentation emphasizing that mental health is not merely about treatment it is a humanitarian mission rooted in compassion, support, and restoring hope for those affected by crises.
The department also highlighted the significance of integrating psychological support into field operations, as it restores balance and strengthens resilience in the face of challenges.

Through this participation, the Center reaffirms its commitment to making mental health an essential component of emergency and humanitarian care in Libya, guided by a vision that upholds the dignity, safety, and well-being of every individual.
