As part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of medical services across Libya, the Emergency Medicine and Support Center has successfully performed a total hip replacement using the advanced anterior approach—one of the latest surgical techniques in the field of orthopedic surgery.
This complex procedure was carried out under the supervision of Professor Carlo De Biase, an Italian orthopedic surgeon, in collaboration with a skilled Libyan medical team. The operation represents a model of integration between international expertise and national medical competencies, conducted in a fully equipped medical environment with direct support from the Center.
The anterior approach is known for several key clinical advantages, including:
- Faster post-operative recovery
- Reduced pain after surgery
- No need for drainage tubes
- Lower risk of complications compared to traditional techniques
- Improved cosmetic outcome at the surgical site
This initiative comes as part of EMSC’s continued support for healthcare facilities across various regions, providing resources, coordinated efforts, and close case follow-up to ensure that medical interventions are carried out in line with the highest standards of quality and safety.
EMSC highly values the dedication of all medical professionals involved in the success of this operation and reaffirms its commitment to supporting patients and healthcare institutions throughout Libya.
