At 6:39 PM, an emergency call was received reporting multiple suffocation cases, including one fatality, at a private clinic in the Majer area (Majer Medical Hospital).
Emergency response procedures were immediately activated, with one ambulance dispatched from Al-Suwaih Point and three ambulances from Kaaam Point, including an ICU ambulance and a body transport vehicle.
The first ambulance arrived at the scene at 6:50 PM. Prior to patient transfer, the cases were assessed by the clinic’s physicians. Based on the evaluation, the critical unstable case was transferred via the ICU ambulance, along with three additional cases requiring oxygen support, in addition to the deceased case.
Patients were transported to the Zliten Medical Center at staggered intervals to ensure smooth reception and avoid congestion in the emergency department. Two cases were admitted to the ICU, one to the Internal Medicine Department, while another critical case was transferred via ICU ambulance to Al-Hayat Hospital, due to the need for intensive care admission.
It is noted that the cause of suffocation was the use of charcoal inside the sleeping area, and that all affected individuals were of Nigerian nationality.
