International Recognition: A Leading Libyan Model for Integrating Mental Health into Emergency Care

The Emergency Medicine and Support Center participated in the Fourth European Conference on Neurology and Neuropsychiatry, held in France on February 23–24, 2026. During the event, the Center’s delegation delivered a scientific presentation entitled:
Integrating Mental Health into Emergency Medical Services in Libya – EMSC Experience.

The presentation highlighted the Center’s pioneering efforts to incorporate mental health services into Libya’s emergency care system. It showcased initiatives aimed at reducing stigma and strengthening psychological support as a core component of crisis and disaster response. The experience received strong praise from attendees, who regarded it as an advanced model of integration between emergency services and mental healthcare.

This participation was made possible through the support of the Center’s leadership, reflecting its commitment to international collaboration and the empowerment of national professionals. The Center also extended its appreciation to the Libyan Embassy in France and the Libyan Health Attaché for their warm reception and support, reaffirming its ongoing efforts to firmly embed mental health within the emergency response framework to ensure a comprehensive and effective service.
