In the early hours of Friday morning, teams from the Emergency Medicine and Support Center responded to a report received through the Central Emergency Room via the toll-free 1412 hotline concerning six young men stranded inside Wadi Awlad Shukr in the Qoqas area of Al Khums, following a rise in water levels and increased water flow through the valley.
Immediately after receiving the report, an eight-member rescue team was dispatched to the location. However, the lack of mobile network coverage in the area made communication difficult, prompting the teams to begin search and sweep operations along the banks of the valley.
Following the search efforts, the six young men were located in the middle of the valley. They had been surrounded by rising water and were forced to hold onto a tree for safety, while their vehicles were completely submerged.
Due to the strength of the current and the hazardous conditions at the site, coordination was carried out with the Center’s office manager and security authorities. A small boat, four-wheel-drive vehicles, and rescue ropes were provided to support the operation and ensure it was carried out safely.
After several hours of field operations, the teams successfully reached the six young men during the early morning hours and brought them all to safety. All six were in good health.
This response reflects the continued readiness of the Emergency Medicine and Support Center’s teams to respond to emergency reports arising from adverse weather conditions and increased water flow in valleys.
