As part of the ongoing efforts by the Emergency Medicine and Support Center to expand the reach of specialized healthcare across Libya particularly in high-need areas EMSC’s medical team continued its field operations at Tamzawa Specialized Hospital for Women, Childbirth, and Pediatrics, one of the most vital healthcare facilities in southern Libya.
On Saturday, August 2, 2025, the hospital witnessed a series of significant medical achievements that highlight the impact of EMSC’s field interventions. Five childbirth operations were successfully conducted, contributing to saving lives and ensuring positive outcomes for both mothers and newborns.
Summary of Medical Procedures:
- Cesarean Section After 13 Years of Waiting:
A remarkable case of a mother delivering her first child after 13 years of trying. The cesarean section was successful. The mother is in stable condition, and the newborn is receiving intensive care in the NICU. - Emergency Cesarean Section with Previous C-Section History:
Performed for a patient showing signs of fetal distress and severe oligohydramnios. The baby weighed 4.6 kg and is under close medical observation. The mother is doing well. - First-Time Cesarean Due to Oligohydramnios:
A successful first cesarean section was performed due to low amniotic fluid levels. Both mother and baby are in stable condition. - Repeat Cesarean Delivery:
Conducted smoothly for a patient with a previous C-section history, with healthy outcomes for both mother and child. - Successful Natural Birth:
A normal delivery was completed without complications, with both mother and baby in excellent health.
The Role of the Emergency Medicine and Support Center:
This field initiative falls within EMSC’s broader strategy to strengthen the healthcare system in southern Libya through:
- Deployment of specialized teams in obstetrics, gynecology, and pediatrics.
- Provision of essential medical supplies and equipment to hospitals.
- Training and mentoring of local healthcare staff to enhance operational efficiency.
These five successful procedures at Tamzawa Hospital reflect a new chapter in integrated healthcare, showcasing EMSC’s ability to deliver high-quality services in remote regions. This effort aligns with the national vision of localized treatment and equitable access to healthcare.
EMSC reaffirms its commitment to continuing its mission in southern Libya and other underserved areas, guided by its national duty and strategic approach to delivering healthcare services throughout the country.
