Under the directive of the Public Prosecutor, the Forensic Support Team affiliated with the Emergency Medicine and Support Center carried out the exhumation of 101 human remains from mass graves at Al-Zaher Al-Hamr cemetery over the course of three days. These remains belong to victims who were buried during the first two days of the disaster that struck the eastern region without collecting DNA samples, which complicates identification by their families.
The support team includes the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 9th, and 14th teams (the Disinfection Team). The teams are responsible for exhuming the remains, placing them in body bags, and confirming the total count. Afterwards, the remains are transferred to the forensic team for sample collection, which are then sent to the Laboratory Department to complete the matching process with reference samples from the families of the missing. The remains are then reburied according to legal procedures.
This process falls under legal measures aimed at facilitating the identification of those missing as a result of this disaster.
We ask God to have mercy on them and accept them among the martyrs.
