On Thursday, 18 September 2025, a training workshop organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and sponsored by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, was concluded. The workshop witnessed the participation of representatives from the Ministries of Interior, Health, Social Affairs, as well as the Emergency Medicine and Support Center.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of national institutions in Libya to identify victims of human trafficking and irregular migrants and provide them with the necessary support, in addition to enhancing coordination between governmental and international actors.
The discussions also focused on prevention and awareness-raising, and on providing essential services such as healthcare, psychosocial support, shelter, and child protection.
Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the development of a comprehensive mapping of available victim services, identifying gaps, and establishing more effective coordination mechanisms between national institutions and international partners, to ensure comprehensive and sustainable protection for victims.
