Strengthening Emergency Preparedness in Libya Through International Expertise

As part of a specialized training program in crisis, risk, and emergency management, the Emergency Medicine and Support Center team continues to carry out a series of scientific activities and field visits aimed at enhancing practical skills and gaining insight into global best practices in disaster response.

The program featured an academic session on climate change and its potential impacts, including disaster risks. It highlighted advanced technological solutions for tracking medical cases, managing and forecasting risks through data analysis, and supporting faster, more informed decision-making. An adapted version of these tools, tailored to the Libyan context, was also presented.

In addition, the program included field visits to the U.S. Congress building and the town of Lovettsville, as well as an introduction to Team Rubicon’s model in volunteer work and disaster response. Participants also took part in a hands-on firefighting exercise, where they were introduced to modern protective equipment.

These activities are part of the Center’s broader efforts to transfer and localize international expertise, strengthen Libya’s emergency systems, and enhance preparedness to respond effectively to a wide range of risks.
