The Emergency Medicine and Support Center received a delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO), in the presence of H.E. the Minister of Health, Mr. Mohammed Al-Ghwej. The visit aimed to assess the Center’s capabilities and review its level of preparedness in responding to emergencies.
The delegation included Dr. Hanan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, Dr. Ahmed Zouiten, WHO Country Representative, and Senior Advisor Hisham Al-Bari. They were welcomed by the Center’s leadership, who delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the Center’s mandate and its critical role in supporting the national healthcare system, particularly in emergency care, ambulance services, and rapid response operations.
The visit also featured a field tour, during which the delegation observed the installation of the Center’s new field hospital—an important addition that significantly enhances operational capacity in managing emergencies, disasters, and public health crises.
Furthermore, the Center showcased its current state of readiness, as well as its technical and logistical capabilities, as part of its ongoing efforts to meet the accreditation and licensing requirements for Emergency Medical Teams (EMT), in alignment with World Health Organization standards.
